Wayne Osborn

Overall winner, 2012 ANZANG Nature Photographer of the Year

Wayne is a SCUBA diver and underwater photographer from Perth. He has an avid interest in whales, particularly sperm whales and humpback whales, regularly travelling as far afield as the Azores to photograph them. Among his shots are newborn calves suckling and sperm whales feeding on squid. Wayne has a long-term interest in whale conservation and visits Exmouth in Western Australia each year to document the humpback whale southern migration. His photographs assist in scientific research; he donates his images of sperm whales and humpback whales to assist in the understanding of the species. In 2004, Wayne was appointed an International Fellow of the New York-based Explorers Club in recognition of his long term interest in the marine environment.
